Diona in Poetry
Diona is a pre-Hispanic rhyming poem from the Philippines. It contains three lines with 7 syllables in each line that expresses a complete thought. Usually, Diona poems are usually written in Tagalog due to its origin country. However, as of the present, many poets have adapted it in various languages, especially English.
God for spirituality,
Gold for true prosperity,
Glory for one’s legacy.
Fun fact:
God, gold, and glory are the motives of European exploration in the new world.
